Mike O’Rourke joined JonesTrading in February 2013 to enhance the firm’s market strategy capability. In this role, he advises institutional investors on market developments, providing “Market Intelligence”. His primary focus is identifying short term catalysts that drive daily trading activity while addressing how they fit into the “big picture”.

Mike is a 17 year market veteran with considerable experience on both the buy and sell side. Prior to joining JonesTrading, Mike spent two years as a Portfolio Manager and US Strategist at Marshall Wace Asset Management. Before that Mike served as the Chief Market Strategist at BTIG and served in a variety of other senior roles for BTIG.

Mike started his career at the Spear, Leeds and Kellogg Division of Goldman Sachs. Early on he worked in the New York Stock Exchange Specialist unit, then as a NASDAQ Market Maker. The majority of his time at Spear, Leeds was spent as a Propietary Trader.

Wile on the sell side, Mike’s work was regularly cited in Barron’s, the Wall Street Journal, and Business Week. He also regularly appeared on Bloomberg Television and Radio, Fox Business Network and CNBC.
